Calvary Baptist Church of Borger, Texas was organized on March 1, 1945, at a meeting in the American Legion Hall. Thirty-four people signed the "Organizational Resolution", thereby becoming the first members of the newly organized church. The Rev. J.N. Hunt was called as pastor and the first service was held on Sunday, March 4, 1945, with 79 people attending. The charter closed on April 1, 1945, with 135 Charter Members.
The first church building on McGee Street was occupied on Sunday, November 18, 1945. In 1946, the first annex was added to the original building. Classrooms were added in 1949. A temporary sanctuary was completed in the basement of the present education building in 1950 and by 1955 a two-story educational building was added. Our present sanctuary and administration wing were completed and dedicated in 1964. In 2003 the third-floor children's education hall received a facelift.
After 81 years of service, Calvary Baptist Church is still committed to the Great Commission.
